Indore : Large number of members of Bohra community and family members of a female patient, a victim of medical negligence staged demonstration at Gokuldas Hospital, on Tuesday morning against the accused doctor and shouted slogans against the hospital administration too.
The case of negligence came to fore on November 8 when doctors of Malik Nursing Home removed an absorbent sterile napkin from abdomen of a 26-year-old patient. The napkin was allegedly left by doctors of Gokuldas Hospital during her Caesarean delivery about 18 months ago.
Farida Maheshwarwala (26), a resident of Manik Bagh, was admitted in Malik Nursing Home with severe stomach pain. During surgery, the doctors removed the napkin from her abdomen allegedly left by the gynecologist.
Farida’s husband Avizar Maheshwarwala said: “My wife had gone through a Caesarean delivery on March 15, 2013 at Gokuldas Hospital. She was discharged from the hospital after a week but was complaining of abdomen pain. She bore the pain for 18 long months.
“On November 7, her pain became unbearable after which we took her to Malik Nursing Home.” He further said that it was a serious negligence by the gynaecologists of Gokuldas Hospital. “We will lodge a police complaint against the doctor and also take legal action against her,” Avizar said.
He further said that they had lodged a complaint with Joint-Director, Health Dr Sharad Pandit and would lodge a complaint with the Collector, Commissioner and in the Consumer Forum, on Wednesday.
Doctors rubbishes allegations
The gynaecologist of Gokuldas Hospital rubbished the allegations and said that she didn’t make any such fault. She said that she didn’t operate the patient and they are putting wrong allegations on her.
