Artisans, traders from different parts of India flock Malwa Utsav with hope

Indore : Amar Singh, resident of Bhilwara District in Rajasthan, has come to the city about five days ago and prepared unique sculptures with terracotta to woo Indoreans in the Malwa Utsav 2015.

The commencement of most awaited 5-day cultural event of the city organised by Lok Sanskiti Manch, gave a hope to Amar Singh for getting the true value of his talent and art.

“Whether it is Maharana Pratap, Gautam Buddha or the picture of any advanced car, I can turn it in sculpture with the terracotta soil available mainly in the region from where I belong,” Singh said.

He said that he has come for the first time to attend Malwa Utsav, but with the first day response, he is assured of getting the right price for his talent.

“I am in this profession since my childhood as my father was also sculptor and everyone in my family is. I belong to Prajapati Community and the artistic work is our synonym from the ancient time,” he added.

Similarly, Anand Achari of Andhra Pradesh has come for the second time to attend the cultural fair of the city. He was a carpenter but he explored his passion in preparing wooden murals.

“This year, I have come with the murals based on Khajuraho. It is prepared with teakwood and ranges vary from Rs 500 to Rs 10000. I have prepared the murals by my own and those available in market are made by machines with the range of Rs 5000 onwards,” Achari said.

He said that he got a good response last year and has come with more enthusiasm this year.

Like Anand and Amar, many people from Kolkata, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka and other parts of the nation has come under one roof to showcase their talents and to give an opportunity to Indoreans to witness the true craftsmanship.

It was not only the fair of craftsmanship and artistic works of different parts of the country but it also have an array of delicious and aromatic delicacies in the food zone.

Rizwan, resident of New Delhi has come with the delicious low fat snacks and claimed that by taking this snacks people will reduce their cholesterol.

“It is healthy friendly snacks and prepared with the herbs and spices available only in North East part of the country. I have customers following of more than 5000 and hopeful to get the same response from the city of Holkars,” he added. Various cultural programmes also held during the inauguration of the fair.
