Indore : Some students from the city, who had applied mehndi for Raksha Bandhan festival, could not take Pre Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani, Naturopathy & Yoga Test (PAHUNT) conducted online for the first time by Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board also known as Vyapam, on Sunday.
Entry into the examination centre was based on attendance through biometric machine. Biometric machines installed at examination centres in the city could not read thumb and finger impressions of the students so they were denied exam.
Exam Coordinator Atul Mende said that they made the students to wash their hands with soaps but the fast mehndi colour did not disappear. “Eventually, we have to deny exam to the students having applied mehndi on thumbs and finger tips,” he added.
Mende said that there were clear instructions to the candidates not to apply any colour on fingers and thumbs but some did not adhere to the instructions and lost opportunity to take the test.
As many as 6610 candidates had registered for the PAHUNT from the city. The test was conducted at seven centres in two shifts.
The centres where the exam was conducted include Sanghvi, Patel, Oriental, IPS Academy, LNCT, Malwa and Arnold.
Acropolis centres cancelled at the 11th hour
As many as nine centres were setup in the city for PAHUNT but the exam was held only at seven centres. The exam at two centres viz Acropolis Technical Campus and Acropolis Institute of Technology and Research were cancelled citing ‘unforeseen reasons.
A notice regarding cancellation of exam at the Acropolis college centres was published in newspapers on Sunday.
But many students, who had been allocated these centres, came to know cancellation of exam only when they reached the centre.
Mende said that the exam at Acropolis college centres was cancelled due to unforeseen reasons. However, sources claimed that the exam at these two centres was cancelled following a complaint against the colleges with state government.
The Vyapam has shift centres from Acropolis Colleges to four other colleges viz Sanghvi Institute of Management and Science, Oriental University, IPS Academy and LNCT College.
Exam for students who had been allocated centres at Acropolis Colleges have been organised at the above-mentioned four colleges on Monday.
