Indore : Over 3 lakh saplings will be planted in the district in the monsoon season, out of which 1 lakh would be planted in City areas. The rest will be planted in the rural areas. As many as 5 lakh tree guards would be made available to give protection to the saplings. The plans came to fore in a meeting chaired by District Collector P Narahari here on Monday.
He instructed that all the departments should plant saplings in their campuses, roadside and on the government land. They should also ensure its security.
If needed the free of charge saplings would be made available from IMC and Zila Panchayat. Control rooms would also be established at Zila Panchayat and IMC. The sapling plantation campaign will start from July 1 and continue till August 31.
While selecting the sapling their heights must be more than 3 feet, so that their chances of survival to be more, the collector said adding any citizen can get the plants free of charge from by dialing at control room. The IMC has made arrangements of distribution of 50,000 plants free of charge. IMC will undertake the plantation at Aerodrome area and Ring Road.
Nakshatra Garden
The officials decided to start a Nakshatra Garden at Sanskrit College. This would be a second garden of its kind after the Government Ahilya Library.
