Indore : Eight years after a bloodbath took place over a petty issue of fetching water from a public boring in Ahilya Paltan area, a local court on Friday awarded life imprisonment to three people and sentenced 19 others to prison up to seven years.
Additional Public Persecutor NA Mandloi said that one person was killed and many were injured in the bloodbath took place between members of Yadav family and Gaikar family of Ahilya Paltan on April 7, 2007.
Cross complaints were lodged by both the families who later tried to settle the criminal cases out of court but to no avail. Raikar family had the key of the public boring in the locality.
When Yadav family members sought the key to fetch water from the boring heated exchanges took place between them and Raikar family. The argument took a bloody turn as members of both the families wielding sharp-edged weapons attacked one another.
Subhash Yadav had died during the clash and many persons were injured. Both the parties registered cases against each other. After hearing both the parties, the court convicted all the accused in the case.
Mandloi said that all the accused, were sent to jail from the court premises. Some were already in jail since the incident. One accused is absconding since the incident.
