18th batch of PGP begins at IIM Indore with students orientation programme

INDORE : A two-day orientation programme for the 18th batch of IIM-Indore’s Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) began on Friday.

The programme commenced with the welcome address by Professor Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director, IIM Indore. He mentioned about various initiatives taken by the Institute in streamlining the quality of academic education at IIM Indore and also quality of life on the campus.

He noted that IIM Indore has always maintained diversity in the institute. Students from various backgrounds like commerce, arts, humanities, science etc. are taking admission in IPM, who in their fourth year, study with the PGP Batch.

The PGP students are mostly from the engineering background, thus background diversity is also created. Professor Krishnan said that the institute has been strengthening its industry relations and now is hiring Professors of Practice, who have extensive work experience and can guide the students in their projects as well.

He congratulated the students and motivated them to stand by the values and ethics for the coming two years and staying committed to their course.

Following Professor Krishnan’s address, the chief guest, Madan Padaki, Co-founder, CEO & Managing Director, Head Held High Services and Co-founder & Director, Sylvant Advisors, in his commencement speech shared his experiences from his graduating years and work at various companies.

He mentioned that the graduating years were the best two years of his life. He encouraged the students to believe in self and stand firm on it.

He also motivated them to work with passion, learn more outside the class, make friends, seek the best in others and ask questions.

He said that similar to Intelligence Quotient and Emotional Quotient, Passion quotient and Curiosity Quotient play a major role in success. With advancement in technology, this is the best time to be in India and learn new things, Padaki said.

Congratulating the newly-joined batch, he advised them to pursue entrepreneurship not as a hobby but as an obligation and become job creators.

A book titled ‘Match The Age To Keep Them Engaged’ by renowned author and entrepreneur Deepak Malhotra was also launched on the occasion.

Giri Giridhar, Senior Director Finance, MSD Pharmaceuticals would be interacting with the newly joined students on Saturday.
