Kolkata: Kolkata Police headquarter Lalbazar had formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the security lapse issue at the residence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

On the other hand, both Kolkata police and CID have interrogated Hafisul Mulla, the one who entered the CM’s residence in the wee hours of Sunday.

“It has been learnt that Mulla was having an iron rod and was hiding behind the conference room. From his family, it has been learnt that he was a cab driver and in the recent past is having few mental issues for which he is undergoing treatment,” said the police sources.

The police sources also mentioned that an extra police force will be deployed outside Banerjee’s residence from evening to next day morning and also that talks are on to make a watch tower outside the Chief Minister’s house.

Meanwhile, after a closed-door meeting at the state secretariat Nabanna, it has been decided that no police on duty in Nabanna and also at Mamata Banerjee’s residence will use mobile phones while doing duty.

“The police should submit their mobile before joining their duty. This decision is taken for the security of the Chief Minister. For emergency after taking due permission the police personnel can take their phones just to place emergency calls,” said the Nabanna sources.

Political slugfest started in the state after a person entered the premises of the Chief Minister’s residence despite tight security and CCTV cameras. The opposition slammed the police and TMC government for such a breach of security and also questioned the security of common people.
