BJP leader and former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje on Wednesday condemned the cold-blooded murder of the tailor, who was beheaded by two Muslim men in Udaipur a day ago for showing support to sacked BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

Slamming the horrific act, Raje said that the Udaipur murder is an act of terrorism. These kinds of things do not happen in Rajasthan.

"Udaipur murder is terrible, it's terrorism. This is not Rajasthan's culture. Such incidents have never happened before," she said, adding that it is important not only the accused be should be nabbed, but also those people and organisations behind them.

Rajasthan Police chief earlier in the day had informed that the gruesome killing of a tailor in Udaipur revealed that one of the two prime accused had links with the Pakistan-based Dawat-e-Islami organisation and had visited Karachi in 2014.

Raje further said that the incident could have been prevented if actions were taken against such criminal ailments earlier in the state.

Slamming the Gehlot-led Congress government in Rajasthan, Raje said, "When govt is involved more in politics & less in governance these things are bound to happen. They (the Gehlot govt) aren't proactive otherwise, they wouldn't have blamed others. It's shocking that they have taken the PM's name."

In a video released on the social media platform, the killers, identified as Gaus Mohammed and Riyaz Ahmed admitted to the murder and threatened PM Narendra Modi in another video.

Raje further took a jibe at CM Ashok Gehlot and said that the government can either take action or make excuses, and that is what CM Gehlot is doing. He is making excuses, she said.

"It's misgovernance, politics of negativity, appeasement politics & total lack of sensitivity on part of the ruling establishment in the state," added Raje.

"During such incidents (Udaipur murder), govt can react in 2 ways, first being proactive, understanding the causes & stopping such incidents. This means work should be done in tandem with administration along with making an atmosphere of trust & harmony," Raje further said.

Meanwhile, the police on Wednesday detained three more people in connection with the killing so far, Director General of Police (DGP) M L Lather said at a press conference here.

Notably, CM Gehlot, who was in Jodhpur on Wednesday, cancelled his visit and return to Jaipur to hold a high-level meeting with senior officials of the state.
