Hyderabad : A history sheeter and his associate were arrested for allegedly shooting at a local Congress leader in Bowenpally area here last week, police stated on Wednesday. Dakuri Babu and his nephew Karne Umesh, who shot at D Yadagiri on August 13, were arrested from here on Tuesday.
They were sent to judicial remand, Bowenpally Police Station Inspector K Kiran said. The duo, on a bike, had waylaid Yadagiri who was on scooter near a hospital and attempted to kill him by firing three rounds at him with two country-made revolvers, the Inspector said. The accused had also opened fire inside the hospital and terrorised the patients before fleeing, he said. Yadagiri escaped with injuries.
A case was registered and during the course of investigation it came to light that Babu and Yadagiri resided in the same locality and were known to each other. “Babu bore a grudge against Yadagiri after he failed to give promised amount of money to him with regard to a murder case of 2009 over a disputed land and for arranging a plot of 100 yards,” the Inspector said.
