Udhagamandalam (TN): A tiger and a tigress were today found dead in the forest area in a reserve in Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiris district.

Based on information given by villagers, forest department officials led by District Forest Officer Soundarapandian rushed to the spot and recovered the carcasses from the area coming under North Division of Mudumalai Tiger Reserve.

The cause of the death was not immediately known but could be due to fight between them, Soundarapandian said.

Nine tigers have died in this tiger reserve since January this year, the official said.
