Bengaluru: The question how Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy correctly inferred that IT raids were imminent on officials and supporters of the JD(S), has an interesting answer. Usually, such raids would be a closely-guarded secret.
Agencies which come under the Centre will not reveal their strategies. Yet, the CM got wind about: how this happened was a million dollar question! Now, it has come to light that some taxi drivers at the International Airport at Bengaluru had tipped him off!
One of the drivers is said to have called up a close associate of Kumaraswamy and told him that two platoons of CRPF had arrived to Bengaluru, and were making bulk booking 100 taxis! Soon after receiving this piece of information, Kumaraswamy called Intelligence officials and asked them what were they doing when all this was happening at the airport?
It was only then that the Intelligence Wing started its verification process and got to know about the IT raid preparation. Normally, in a swoop down, the concerned departments usually takes the help of the state police. But, in this case, the assistance of CRPF was obtained, to keep the exercise all hush-hush
