Kolkata: At a time when Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is claiming that the BJP-led Central government is not releasing ‘backlog’ funds to the state for MGNREGA and other schemes, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari on Monday taking to Twitter said that the West Bengal government is overnight trying to rewrite the names of the schemes after Central Government has toughened its stance and gave a warning to stop funds if the Central schemes are not implemented in correct name.

“The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has been renamed as Bangla Awas Yojana. Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana is passed off as Bangla Gram Sadak Yojana. The Central Govt has toughened its stance & gave a warning to stop funds if the Central schemes are not implemented in correct name,” said Adhikari.

Posting videos where people are sticking corrected names of the schemes, the Leader of Opposition wrote, “Stand vindicated today. I have been claiming for the past one & a half years that @MamataOfficial Govt is a "Sticker" Govt. She has been renaming Central Govt schemes unethically & illegally. Today her administration was caught red handed by the Central Inspection Team.”

“The Union Rural Development Ministry sent an Inspection Team to find facts. The bankrupt WB Govt, wary of the implications if the truth is revealed, tried to cover their tracks by placing the correct names of the Central Schemes overnight; by painting/pasting on the counterfeits,” further stated Adhikari.

Earlier on on May 14, Suvendu Adhikari had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him not to pay the dues to the state till the state government changes the names of the schemes to the original names.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also cried foul mentioning money is given to other states even if the names are changed in their local language and also alleged that BJP-led Central has ‘problem’ if anything is done in Bengal.
