Indore : In 2015, the Ratlam Division of Railway failed to keep its promises over completion of the ongoing construction work at city railway station.

The slow pace of construction work of the Railways, associated with development of local facilities, failed to meet the expectation of local citizens.

All the projects including construction of two island platforms, Platform no.1, connection with Laxmibai Nagar and Indore-Mhow gauge conversion. These are directly associated with the augmentation of the long awaited facilities. But importantly, the railway fails to honor its own promise of completion of work.

Beside the facility to the passengers, the projects are directly linked with the elevation of the revenue to the railways too. Ironically the responsible officers are keeping the lackluster attitude. In view of the increasing trains’ movements from the local railway station and inability to extend them further due to the shortage of the platforms, it was decided to develop 2 new island platforms at old goods shade close to Bal Vinay Mandir. The construction of the island platforms were started from January 1, 2014 and the scheduled time limit for completion of them was June 30, 2015. But despite of crossing the time limit by 24 months, the platforms are still un-complete. According to sources l the work like signaling and electric work yet to complete, that could take another at least 2 moths.

The gauge conversion work of 22km long Indore-Mhow is still un-complete, while the mage block for the GC work was taken on February 7 this year. It was announced to complete the GC work in 6 month, i.e. by July 7. The fact is around 40% work is still un-complete, including change of rails, signaling and electric work. This is also the fact that before taking the mega block about 30% work was completed and there is no major bridge to construct. Though, the mega block of the section had to be taken from November 1, 2014, but then DRM L. Venkataraman took the objection and said that it will hamper the revenue of the Ratlam Division.

Same time the BG work of the platform no. 1 was also started and that too completed by July 7. But the fact is that though the civil work is about to complete but the signaling and electric work is still un-complete.
