CM Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi were also present. The Lok Janshakti Party president did not contest the Lok Sabha elections 2019.

Patna: Union food and consumer welfare minister Ram Vilas Paswan was elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha from Bihar on Friday. Paswan, an NDA candidate, received the certificate of election from returning officer and Bihar assembly secretary BN Pandey.

CM Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi were also present. The Lok Janshakti Party president did not contest the Lok Sabha elections 2019. With his election to Rajya Sabha, now there are four members of Paswan family in the Parliament.

His two brothers – Ramchandra Paswan and Pashupati Kumar Paras – and son Chirag Paswan Lok Sabha MPs. The by-election was necessitated due to the resignation of Ravi Shankar Prasad who was elected to Lok Sabha last month.
