Congress leader and chief minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot has sparked a fresh row of controversy. Gehlot has said that president Ram Nath Kovind was made president because of his caste. Speaking at a meeting, Gehlot, who is considered as Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s right-hand man, said Kovind was elected as the President so that the BJP could appease the Koli community in Gujarat ahead of the state elections in 2017.
During the meeting, Gehlot accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of lowering the level of public discourse in the country.
