New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday dismissed the Congress party’s flagship programme of ‘NYAY’ to help the poorest as ‘a hoax plan for which Congress is famous.’ In a tweet, he pricked the Communists while having a dig at Rahul Gandhi deciding to contest the Lok Sabha election also from Wayand in Kerala, besides seeking re-election from Amethi.
“For the Congress, its only philosophy is clear – the dynast and the dynasty are their only concern. I hope my friends in the Left get a belated realisation of this,” Jaitley said. He also dismissed the Opposition’s claim that the BJP will fall short of the majority. In another tweet, Jaitley said: “The Tripura experience is going to be repeated in Odisha, West Bengal & Kerala. With new chemistry, our vote share & seats will have exponential jump.”
He was referring to how the BJP captured Tripura, a CPI (M) bastion, last year, sweeping 35 of the 59 seats on its own and its ally Indigenous People’s Front another eight seats as against ruling CPI(M) reduced to 16 and the Congress that had won 10 seats in 2013 drawing a blank. Jaitley also tried to show that the market is booming as seen from the record GST collection of Rs 1,06,577 crore in March. He said it indicates “the expansion in both manufacturing and consumption.”
