New Delhi: There is no ban on the sale of camel milk in the country, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh told the Rajya Sabha on Friday.
Replying to a volley of supplementaries on a question by Balwinder Singh Bhunder (Akali Dal), he said there are many medicinal qualities in camel milk for treatment of diseases like diabetes and hepatitis.
The Indian Council of Agriculture Research and the National Research on Camel have been training the camel owner. The government also provided money to the camel rearers in Jammu and Kashmir and Kutch in Gujarat, the minister added. Naresh Gujral jumped in to suggest that if camel milk has the medicinal qualities, it should be better made available to MPs in Central Hall. Chairman Hamid Ansari, however, cut him short, saying he better raise it before appropriate forum.
