Guwahati : Mumbai police on Thursday quizzed here Mikhail Bora, son of Indrani Mukherjea, wife of a former media honcho and accused of murdering her daughter Sheena.

A two-member Mumbai Police team first spoke to Mikhail and his ailing grandparents for over an hour. Later, Mikhail was called to Dispur police station where he was grilled a second time.

“They asked me some questions and I cooperated with them. I do not want to disclose anything now. They have said they might call me again. I will cooperate with them,” Mikhail told the media. Local police shared no details, saying they were only facilitating the investigation by Mumbai probe team.  Earlier, Mikhail said he could be his mother’s next target after she allegedly killed his sister Sheena in 2012.

“I do not know. I may be the next target of my mother. She is very powerful and she can do anything she wants,” he said. He said he was ready to go to Mumbai to help the investigation but was scared to go alone.

Interestingly,  Mikhail, who spoke to the media on Wednesday and on Thursday morning, clammed up after the police team left the house. A Mumbai police official and a constable accompanied by Assam Rifles personnel arrived at house No 8 at Sundarpur Byelane in Ganesh-guri area here to investigate the sensational case.

“It is a sensitive case. Investigation is on,” said the Mumbai police officer to the waiting journalists on way to the house.  To persistent querries, he said, “let me first investigate. Let me do my work … After discussions inside, I will inform you all”. He, however declined to answer any more questions asked by reporters when he emerged from the house after about an hour.

Mikhail himself came out of the house about half an hour after the police officer left to leave in his car with two friends.  The youth, who was vocal till this morning, denied to comment when reporters asked him what transpired in his meeting with the Mumbai police officer and if he would be taken to Mumbai.  His only response was “No comments, no comments”.

His response was the same when he was asked if the Mumbai Police officer has asked him to not interact with the media on the case.  Questioned if he was summoned to Dispur police station, Mikhail flashed an envelope and said “I am going to the hospital” and then drove away.

Mikhail Bora, who claims to be Indrani Mukerjea’s son, had yesterday and today told the media that he has evidence on the murder of Sheena, his sister.

Earlier in the morning, Mikhail told newsmen outside the house, where he lives with his maternal grandparents, that he feared he would be the next target. “If the police summons me to Mumbai, I want my friends to accompany me as the Mukherjeas are very high-profile and anything can happen to me. It is a sensitive case”.

He said he has kept all the evidences like photographs and conversations. “I will give them to the police if they want.” “What is the actual motive for killing Sheena only Indrani knows. Other people can only assume. Sheena is my elder sister and I want justice for her,” he said.

Asked, he replied “if police comes to our house here, I will cooperate with them in all possible ways to bring out the truth about my sister’s murder. “It will not be possible for me to go to Mumbai for the investigations as I have to take care of my maternal grandparents who are both in their eighties and suffer from dementia.”

He, however, said he could go to Mumbai only if the police or the government took the responsibility of his grandparents who are yet to be told about Sheena’s killing allegedly by Indrani Mukerjea.

To more questions, he said “I was not silent regarding my sister. I had called her phone number many times. I had repeatedly asked Indrani where is my sister Sheena but she did not reply”.

“Indrani had asked me to leave my aged grandparents in an old age home in Kolkata and take up a job there. When I refused, she told me that she will stop giving us money for our upkeep. “For the last five-six months, she has not sent any money”, he said.

Mikhail also claimed that when Indrani came here last time she had wanted him to give his PAN card and bank details but he had flatly refused.

Mikhail had yesterday alleged that he believed that Indrani Mukherjea, who he claimed was his mother, killed his sister and he knew the exact reason of the murder but would not tell it now.

The youth had said he would wait till Indrani confesses it to the police and if she did not, he would do “whatever is necessary”.  Both Sheena and Mikhail had been introduced by Indrani earlier as her step sister and step brother.

It is now being said that Sheena and Mikhail are actually her children from an earlier relationship.  Indrani had left them with her parents U K Bora and Durga Rani at their residence here to go to Kolkata where she married Sanjiv Khanna who too has been arrested for his alleged involvement in this case. Indrani Mukerjea was arrested in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Sheena murder: Mumbai Police get Khanna’s custody

Kolkata : A Kolkata court on Thursday granted Mumbai Police a five-day transit remand of Sanjeev Khanna, a former husband of Indrani Mukherjea, who is accused of murdering her daughter Sheena Bora.

Kolkata businessman Khanna was arrested by Mumbai Police on Wednesday, a day after Indrani was nabbed in Mumbai for the murder of Sheena. Wife of former media honcho Peter Mukherjea, Indrani has been booked on charges of killing Sheena in 2012 and disposing off her body.

Rejecting Khanna’s bail plea, the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Alipore, granted the police plea for transit remand and directed them to present Khanna before a Mumbai court by September 1.

Pressing for Khanna’s bail, his counsel pleaded that he was an established businessman and would not abscond and would cooperate with the police in the investigation.
