Jogging, a poll strategy for Ravishankar Prasad

Patna: It is a different way of election campaign in Patna. The Union Law, Justice and IT Minister, Ravishankar Prasad, who has been fielded by the BJP from Patna Saheb constituency, can be found in any park or jogging treks in Patna early morning.  Before sunrise, the BJP candidate leaves his Borning Road residence for morning walks . He is joined by the local party legislators from Digha, Bankipore or Kumhrar

. On Monday morning, Ravishankar made the historic Gandhi Maidan his morning walk trek. He spent about two hours in the Maidan, covering all flanks and treks, meeting the young and elders, women and the youths preparing themselves for physical tests for recruitment as police constables.

He had visited the Patlaputra Club Park on Sunday followed by another morning walk in the Moinul Haq stadium. The union minister has covered almost all the parks during his early morning walks. He went to Sanjay Gandhi Botanical Garden, the most favoured joggers park for the judges, senior bureaucrats and lawyers near Raj Bhawan. He visited the Eco Park, Energy Park too earlier.

He once went to the Kidwaipuri Park, children’s park in SK Puri, Shakha Maidan of Rajendra Nagar, Shivaji Park of Kankarbagh, Postal Park in Chiryatand during the morning hours. He claimed that during the morning walks, people are free from any kind of tension and they express their views without fear.

At most of the parks, the union minister has to oblige the selfie seekers too, particularly women. His wife, Maya Shankar, who is a history professor, visited Ashiaya Park, Digha Park separately to seek votes for her husband. The minister’s lawyer son, Anand Shankar, also has become morning walker along with his friends here.

After covering the morning walks in park, the BJP candidate, makes it a point to visit the temples too. He visited Hanuman temple at Patna Junction, another temple at Rajbanshinagar, Jalla Hanuman mandir, Badi Patan Devi, Chhoti Patan Devi, Sheetla Mata , Baikathpur Shiva Mandir before launching his campaign for the day.

Minister claimed that he had been visiting these temples since his schooling days and reminds his supporters of he is Gully boy of Patna, born at Pirmohani, close to the residence of his political rival and Congress candidate Shatrughan Sinha, studied at Rajendra Nagar government school, Patna College and Patna Law College.

On the contrary, Shatrughan Sinha is yet to launch his campaign. He came here on Saturday evening. He went to the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee headquarters on Sunday and Monday to be greeted with “Go Back” slogans in Sadaquat Ashram, PCC office.  Polling for Patna Saheb will be held on May 19 and the nominations began today.
