JNU Rector appeals students to withdraw strike (ANI)Β
Jawaharlal Nehru University's Rector, Chintamani Mahapatra on Tuesday appealed to the students to withdraw their strike against hostel manual and fee hike. He also said that the situation is under control on the campus and emphasised that the administration's goal is to bring back stability.
"Our goal is to bring back stability and start the semester registration process. Protests should be under limits of law and keeping interests of students in mind. We make an appeal to students to withdraw their strike against hostel manual and fee hike, as soon as possible." Mahapatra said.
"In a democracy, students have the right to protest but it should be done within the limits of the law," he added.
Those who created mayhem in JNU should be identified and arrested, says Ramdas Athawale
Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale on Tuesday said those who indulged in the mayhem in Jawaharlal Nehru University should be identified at the earliest and arrested.
Talking to mediapersons here, Athawale, the president of RPI(A), an ally of the BJP, said the fact-finding team headed by Delhi Police joint commissioner Shalini Singh, which has been asked to probe into the incident, should complete its job as soon as possible so that the perpetrators of the crime are brought to book.
To a question, he said all the culprits, whether belonging to left wing or right wing outfits, "should be brought before the law soon".

Those behind JNU violence will be exposed soon, says Union Minister Javadekar
Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday said Home Minister Amit Shah has ordered an inquiry into the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) violence and all the accused would soon be exposed.
"The Home Minister has ordered an inquiry into the matter. I believe that the people with the mask will be exposed. People spreading rumors in JNU and across the country are trying to instigate violence," Javadekar reporters.
"There is a deliberate attempt at creating unrest in universities. This is the conspiracy of some people, These people will also be exposed," added Union Minister Javadekar, also the BJP's in-charge for Delhi affairs.

Leave past behind, return to campus: JNU VC to students
Under fire from students and faculty members for not doing enough when they were brutally attacked by a masked mob on campus, Jawaharlal Nehru University Vice Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar on Tuesday urged students to put the past behind and return to the varsity's premises.
In a brief statement, Kumar said, "Our heart goes out to all injured students. The incident (violence) is unfortunate. I would like to tell students that JNU campus is a secure place.
"I urge all students to come back to the campus. Let us put the past behind." After the attack there has been a demand from several quarters, including the students and faculty members, for his resignation.
Students UnionΒ calls for immediate removal VC Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar
The JNU Students Union has called for the immediate removal of Jawaharlal Nehru University Vice Chancellor Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar and an inquiry into his activities.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, JNUSU alleged that the "saffron nexus" of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and JNU administration stands exposed by the FIR filed by JNU authorities against 20 students who include the JNUSU President and General Secretary.
