Indore : The open trucks carrying the city garbage to the trenching grounds will be covered from now on to avoid spillage on the roads during transit. The IMC will be spending Rs 2 lakh to cover 150 plus trucks presently employed in carrying the garbage.
The garbage, being carried by open trucks, spills on the road during transit and creates problems for other commuters. Free Press had carried a photograph showing open trucks spilling garbage on way to trenching grounds.
In order to overcome the problem, the IMC has decided to cover the trucks with tarpaulin. The work of covering the trucks began at IMC in presence of IMC health department In-charge Rajendra Rathore and Chief Health officer Dr KS Verma on Tuesday.
Rathore said that at present over 150 open trucks are deployed to carry garbage and Indore civic body will spend Rs 2 lakh to cover them during transit. The problem does not exist with compactor trucks but only with open trucks, the IMC health department In-charge, Rathore added.
