Indore: Chief Minister Kamal Nath, the man behind Congress resurgence and ascension to power in Madhya Pradesh after a hiatus of 15 years is a man on mission. A few months after victory in assembly polls, he is out to outgun and outnumber BJP in the Lok Sabha election. In an interview with Manohar Limbodia of Free Press, he outlined his priorities.  Exuding confidence, he declared at the outset, “We are going to win more seats than the BJP this time.”

“People across the country have seen Congress wresting MP, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh from the BJP. So, this time they will not vote for those who make false promises,” said Nath.  “Soon after assuming power in state, farmers’ loan was waived immediately. It is the first thing I did after taking oath as the chief minister. We have also provided appropriate rate to their crops,” he said.  State Congress Committee president Nath further said, “We have fulfilled 85% of the promises made in state assembly election manifesto in merely 75-day of governance.”

“Our party and activists are united. We are contesting elections with the same enthusiasm. We are assured of our win as ‘josh’ of our workers is high.” “Along with farmers’ loan waiver, we are also taking necessary steps to solve other farmer-related issues and are committed to providing them better environment to grow in the state. Recently, we hiked the rate at which crops are bought by the government. This has been done to ensure that farmers get adequate money to lead a happy and prosperous life,” Nath said.

The CM said the state government is working towards providing allowance to unemployed youths and is also making efforts to create enough jobs for them. “State’s youths are with the Congress and party President Rahul Gandhi this time. They trust Congress and they will be the base of our victory in the LS election,” he added. The CM claimed the Congress will win most of the seats on which voting has been done and is sure of winning those which are going to vote in coming phases.

Targeting BJP, Nath said, “BJP lied to people and lies exposed. BJP leaders are frustrated with defeat in assembly elections. Shivraj Singh Chouhan is dreaming of becoming the CM again and is saying the Cong Govt will fall after the LS election. However, it’s only a dream of Shivraj, will remain one.”  He said the BJP leaders are towing the line of PM Modi and telling lies to people.

“The promise of giving Rs72,000 per year to poor family has made an impact on people in rural and urban areas alike. BJP leaders are worried over increasing popularity of Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi. We will not only do well in Madhya Pradesh, but in the entire country,” he said.  Nath said he took over as state party chief a year ago and has strengthened the party organisation. “Our workers are giving a fight to BJP in districts, cities and even at block levels. We have given them respect and they have returned it with victory in the state assembly,” he added.

Digvijaya will win by huge margin: MP CM
On a query related to party’s Bhopal candidate Digvijaya Singh, MP CM Kamal Nath said Singh would win the election by a huge margin. “He is getting love and support of people, while BJP’s Pragya Thakur is facing public anger for indulging in politics of hatred. The Election Commission has acted against her due to her hate speeches.”
