Chennai : P Chidambaram on Sunday backed the party high command’s decision to anoint EVKS Elangovan as the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president.
Chidambaram, whose son Karthi has been heading a faction within the State unit of the Congress and was reportedly eyeing the TNCC chief’s post, called on Elangovan in Chennai and congratulated him on his appointment. Elangovan took charge as the party State unit president for a second time. “Everyone must stay united and support Elangovan,” Chidambaram said adding that the TNCC president’s post was a big one. With this gesture Chidambaram has made it clear that he would not go with the Vasan faction.
