Rajnandgaon: The state president of Yuva Jagriti Manch, Jeevan Sahu, emphasized the cultural significance of festivals in Indian traditions, stating that every festival holds a special place in society. Members of the Swami Vivekananda Yuva Jagriti Manch celebrated Vedic Holi using natural colors, continuing their efforts to promote eco-friendly celebrations.
Although historical evidence linking ancient sages to these festivals remains inconclusive, it is widely believed that such traditions are deeply rooted in India's spiritual heritage. The officials of Yuva Jagriti Manch urge everyone to embrace natural colours during Holi, avoiding the harmful effects of synthetic chemicals.
Sahu also shared important guidelines for celebrating Holi safely. He advised against using colours made from Palash flowers, stressing that modern generations are increasingly exposed to harmful chemical dyes, which pose serious health risks.
He encouraged people to prepare natural colors at home, offering simple recipes like to obtain red colour, boil two teaspoons of sandalwood powder and red pomegranate peels in water.
For black, Henna leaves are powdered and put iron in a pot overnight, then boil beetroot, grind it, and mix it with henna powder and wheat flour. The yellow can be obtained by mixing turmeric powder with gram flour for a safe and vibrant yellow hue.
For years, Swami Vivekananda Yuva Jagriti Manch has been celebrating Vedic Holi and spreading awareness about the benefits of natural colors. The initiative aims to protect both people’s health and the environment while preserving traditional practices.
