Centre will consider favourably plea for health insurance for pension scheme

Kochi:  The Centre will consider favourably Kerala’s proposal to bring the beneficiaries of Guaranteed Minimum Pension scheme under the ambit of Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY), a cashless health insurance cover.

Speaking at the state level launch of guaranteed minimum pension of Rs 1,000 under Employees Pension scheme, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation G M Siddeshwara, said a request in this regard had been conveyed by state Labour Minister Shibu Baby John.

The minister said he would convey this request to the Prime Minister and the Labour Minister.

In Kerala, the total number of Employees Pension Scheme 1995 pensioners are 3,26,534 and 2,55,022 pensioners who were drawing pension of less than Rs 1000 would be the immediate and direct beneficiaries.
