New Delhi: Just when the election is around the corner, the BJP has unveiled its campaign tag line — Phir Ek Baar Modi Sarkar, (Modi government, once again). Also, the campaign will harp on numerous themes. “The first will be ‘Kaam Karne Wali Sarkar’. Also, we ended an era of corruption, and ran an honest government. This is why the second theme is Imaandar Sarkaar.
The third theme of the campaign will be Bade Faisle Lene Waali Sarkaar, since this government has taken tough decisions which include development and national security,” Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said. The BJP is playing cards close to its chest and the party is expected to release the manifesto only on Monday, three days before the first phase of the election.
It would have the poor and the middle class at its core, said Jaitley. In a jibe at the Congress Jaitley said, “I am surprised that the Congress’ manifesto didn’t have anything for the middle class, which is so aspirational. However, the poor, the middle class and the neo-middle class will be the pivot of BJP’s electioneering.’’
The middle class will impact the global economy in the coming decades in the same way the Chinese economy influenced it earlier, he explained. Reiterating the party line, he said the time has come to choose between a proven decisive government and a mahamilawat one.
“We want a government with one captain and not a team of 11 members with 40 captains,’’ he reasoned. Earlier in the day, the Congress also launched its campaign for the Lok Sabha elections with a song — ‘Ab Hoga Nyay’ — a slogan that is woven around the flagship Basic Minimum Income Scheme Nyay.
It also indicates the “anyaya” (injustice) that the country had to go through under the BJP-rule. Jaitley summed up by saying that there is a “fundamental difference” between the BJP and other parties — ‘‘under PM Modi, we have worked 24×7 for five years”.
