BJP slams Nitish for 'betrayal of Bihar's people', Tejashwi says forget what happened in 2017 and begin new chapter | ANI

Bihar BJP chief Sanjay Jaiswal has slammed Nitish Kumar and said that he has betrayed Bihar's people and the BJP.

"We fought the 2020 polls together under NDA, the mandate was for JD-U and BJP, we won more seats despite that, Nitish Kumar was made the CM. Whatever happened today is a betrayal of Bihar's people and the BJP," Bihar BJP chief Sanjay Jaiswal was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, RJD's Tejashwi Yadav has reportedly told Nitish Kumar, "Let us forget what happened in 2017 and begin a new chapter."

On Tuesday evening, Nitish Kumar received bouquets from the AICC president, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, who telephoned him and congratulated him for getting elected as leader of the seven parties alliance and oath as CM on Wednesday.

However, BJP slammed him and it has also decided to start dharna from tomorrow.

Bihar BJP on Tuesday evening launched a frontal attack on Nitish Kumar and called him a habitual cheater(insidious). Its leaders appealed for protests all over the state from tomorrow and "expose the traitor Nitish to the village level".

Union rural development minister, Giriraj Singh, sarcastically wished Nitish Kumar "Ramjan Mubaraq" and said his ambition to become Prime Minister was again ignited. Giriraj warned that the people of Bihar will show the real strength(Aukat) of Nitish in the elections.

Addressing a short presser in Patna today, Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “Nitish Kumar has left and said that the BJP was trying to destroy his party... The BJP made him a union minister several times. He was also made a Chief Minister. Why did he rethink his decision on alliance with the RJD in 2015 and come to BJP in 2017?”

Nitish said he submitted a list of 164 MLAs to the Governor. The effective strength of the state Assembly is 242 and the magic figure is 122.

Nitish later said, “Tejashwi will take care of Bihar.” Reciprocating the praise, Tejashwi said, “Nitish ji is the most experienced and most mature chief minister in the country. Only he can challenge Narendra Modi in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as PM candidate.”

Nitish is likely to take oath as Bihar’s chief minister again today afternoon at the Raj Bhavan, according to a tweet by the RJD.

Sources said while Nitish will have the power to choose ministers, Tejashwi will be his deputy.
