PATNA: The four Maoist-hit districts of Bihar will go to polls in the first phase on April 11. According to the schedule released by the chief election officer, H Sriniwas Rao, Jamui, Nawada, Aurangabad and Gaya will have polling in the first phase. Aurangabad, which has world’s oldest Sun god temple at Dev, also goes to polls in the first phase.
Nawada is represented by the Union minister Giriraj Singh. Jamui is represented by LJP’s Chirag Paswan. Sushil Kumar Singh and Hari Manjhi,both BJP were elected from Aurangabad and Gaya, respectively. All the four seats facing polls in the first phase are represented by the NDA nominees.
These districts are still active in left wing extremism Maoists violence. Since 2014, there had been 129 cases of Maoists violence. In 2014, 32 were killed in Maoist violence attacks. –
