Patna: Polling in the four Maoist-hit parliamentary seats of Aurangabad, Gaya, Nawada and Jamui, which went to polls on Thursday in Bihar, was largelly peacefully with a voter turnout of 53.6 %. The voters defied Maoist threat, which was visible with the recovery of a dozen explosives in two days.
In 2014, the voter turnout in Aurangabad was 51%, 53.9% in Gaya, 52.8 % in Nawada and 50% in Jamui. There was a concern about the turnout among parties as the election was held during the Chhath fest, when the devotees have to fast. However, the final figures suggest the turnout remained unaffected.
