The Excise department of neighbouring Karnataka State has seized a truck with over Rs one-crore worth of alcohol said to have originated from Goa.
The truck was seized and impounded by officials of Karnataka's excise department at Sirsi.
Besides liquor said to be worth Rs 1-crore, the truck was also carrying Rs 3-lakh worth of rectified spirits. The truck driver has been arrested.
Meanwhile sources at Goa Excise Department said, they were unaware of the incident and could not throw light on the distillery of origin of the contraband.
