Goa: Scooterist killed in accident at Sangolda

The scooter rider Kapil Lamani (25) of Baga and the pillion rider Venkatesh Lamani of Gadag-Karnataka sustained grievous injuries.

A scooter rider was killed when he was knocked down by speeding car on the Chogm road at Sangolda in the wee hours of Tuesday.

According to Saligao Police, six tourists had come to Goa in a car from Karnataka and were staying in a hotel at Calangute. On Tuesday morning while returning home to Kittur in their car, the driver P R Manjunath dashed an oncoming scooter on the Chogm road at about 4.30 am.

The scooter rider Kapil Lamani (25) of Baga and the pillion rider Venkatesh Lamani of Gadag-Karnataka sustained grievous injuries. They were shifted to Goa Medical College Hospital at Bambolim for treatment.

GMC doctors declared Kapil Lamani dead on arrival while Venkatesh Lamani is undergoing treatment at the GMC.
