The US consulate Mumbai on Maharashtra Day created a unique video as a tribute to the founding father of Indian Cinema Dr Dadasaheb Phalke. Four American diplomats in video can be seen reciting 4 famous Marathi dialogues from different films.
Dressed in costumes and with similar make up and matching background to the scenes in the film, Jen White is seen as Sai Tamhankar from “Tu Hi Re” while Lynne Moo takes on the famous dialogue from ‘Sairat’. Take a look:
A DNA report states the US Consulate Spokesperson in Western India Nick Novac explained their intent as, “We work here, but we also live here. It is Maharashtra day on Tuesday. It is an opportunity to have fun and also show our appreciation and gratitude for the place we call home.”
“It is Maharashtra day on Wednesday and it was Dadasaheb Phalke’s anniversary on Tuesday. This is also a good relief and an opportunity to have a bit of fun during serious election time,” Novac further said.
Nick revealed the social media team of the consulate produced the video alongside their Indian co-workers directing them for accent, enunciation, costume and the set.
