Plot
The film is set in post-World War II Italy and centres around Antonietta Speranza, who decides to send his seven-year-old boy, Amerigo, to live with a wealthier host family in northern Italy. The film shows how a mother makes a difficult choice just for the sake of her child's future and how this decision offers Amerigo a chance to escape the harsh poverty of his home and experience a life filled with new opportunities and struggles.
Throughout his journey, the film explores the themes of a beautiful bond between a mother and her son, and the emotional impact of separation on both children and parents.
