Actress Pallavi Joshi, currently seen on the big screen in The Tashkent Files, shares her faves with Manasi Y Mastakar

An inculcated habit
I have always been reading. My parents inculcated this habit in me when I was very small.

The un-put-down-ables
I don’t have any favourites, but there have been quite a few un-put-down-able books. These would include Golden Gate by Vikram Seth, Six Suspects by Vikas Swaroop, DaVinci Code by Dan Brown, Dev Anand’s autobiography…

A changing list of faves
My favourites change with every phase. It was Enid Blyton first, then Nancy Drew, then Sidney Sheldon, then Vikram Seth, then Nicholas Sparks, then Dan Brown and so on and so forth. But I absolutely love all the books of Vikas Swaroop. His storytelling is just amazing.

Detox reads
I don’t have a specific favourite genre. I read everything. But I do pick up a mushy love story after a few heavy books for a detox.

Nightly ritual
I usually don’t get time through the day. But I have to read every night before I sleep.

Monthly reads
I don’t know… Three to four books maybe…

Recommendations
I pick up anything I fancy. I don’t wait for recommendations. I need to read every night. So, I always buy books in bulk.

Going digital
Due to poor eyesight, the e-book works better as I can increase the font size.

Currently reading
I am reading Life over Two Beers by Sanjeev Sanyal.

Bookish memory
I hate turning to the last page of the book. It always leaves me feeling empty. It’s like losing a friend and then not knowing what to do with my time.

Beloved book adaptations
Oh, nothing can get more fantastical than Harry Potter, of course.

Book adaptations I wish I were a part of…
The Girl on the Train. I loved the book…it was eerie.

Turn it into a film
Six Suspects…It’s a mad book and must be turned into a film.

No false claims
I have never claimed to have read something that I never have. But, I have promised to read books that I could never either read at all or finish at all. Like War & Peace was a book I tried reading several times. Just could not ever finish it…I have made over 10 attempts, now I don’t attempt it any more.

Bring home a friend
Reading is a personal hobby. It can take you on a great self discovery. We always read about the things that inspire us. Therefore I won’t recommend books because what I like may seem boring to someone else, but I will definitely recommend reading to everyone. Nothing and no one can be a better friend than stories and their characters. Bring home a friend today.
