Last week we were subjected to that monstrously pea- brained sex comedy ‘Kyaa Kool Hain Hum3’ from the Balaji stable and this week it’s the similarly classless and tasteless venture from PNC, that will get your goat…or is it horse?

‘Mastizaade’ of course hopes to ride piggy back on Sunny Leone’s formidable assets and that becomes doubly clear when you see her in a dual role as twin sisters running a sex addiction rehab group. But the surprise here is not Sunny Leone’s casting but that of Tusshar Kapoor, Reitesh Deshmukh, Susmita Mukherjee and Gizele Thukral in major roles- all four of whom had pretty prominent roles in the aforementioned Balaji film.

And to top that both films had similar locations (Thailand) and a common writer, Milan Milap Zaveri. My guess is that since Tusshar was the lead in both, probably sister Ekta decided to be generous and give the ‘Mastizaade’ team some freebies along the way. And this probably augurs well(whichever way you look at it) for a cut-throat industry where friends never remain friends for long and neither do enemies. Reitesh with two back-to-back extended cameos in a genre which he himself promised to shun, might as well eat his own words now.

Such films usually don’t have much of a story to tell. Two sex addicts Sunny Kele (Tusshar) and Aditya Chhotia (Vir Das) try innovative ways to score with women – attending alcoholics anonymous and sex addiction clinics gives them both a seemingly never-ending supply. And then they bump into Laila and Lily Lele and promptly the two fall in love with either sister.

While Sunny’s hooking up with one twin is a foregone conclusion save for the effeminate gay brother (Suresh Menon)’s pestilent crush on him, Aditya’s is not as smooth. He has to contend with paraplegic Deshpremee Singh(Shaad ) who happens to be engaged to Aditya’s flame. Things get messier with the entry of Papa Lele (Asrani) and Mama Lele (Susmita Mukherjee).

‘Mastizaade’ is basically a combination of several contrived incidents put together to constitute a whole. The objective is clearly to facilitate double meaning dialogues and set-pieces and therefore severely lacking in logic. And the chief elements here are a double dose of skimpily clad Sunny Leone, some peppy numbers, loud, unnecessarily over-the-top double meaning dialogues and antiquated comedic set-pieces trying hard to score on the laughs.

Suresh Menon appears to be desperate to get roles or else he wouldn’t be essaying the same effeminate gay lover boy role for the umpteenth time. Sunny Leone doesn’t have to deliver anything other than her body wrapped and unwrapped as it may be. That, she does quite well in. Tusshar is quite insufferable and Vir Das appears to be way out of his element. Shaad, Asrani and Sushmita have little to do other than act like crazies on the loose. And by the end of it you walk out of the auditorium staggered by the sheer waste of resources and money involved in giving these twin disasters wings. This is a total non-alleviating farce devoid of humour and sense. Stay away if you value your intelligence.
