Actor-comedian Mallika Dua’s mother and wife of journalist Vinod Dua, Padmavati died on Friday due to COVID-19 complications.
A radiologist by profession, and popularly known as Chinna Dua, she had been admitted to Gurgaon’s Medanta Hospital on May 14.
The trio had tested positive for the virus, but only Vinod and Chinna were hospitalised. The former, who was discharged on June 7, took to Facebook and informed “Chinna no more.”
Upon being admitted to Medanta, Chinna had shared, “We were admitted to St Stephens’ Hospital on May 13 but my condition progressed, requiring ICU but bed wasn’t available there. Last night we got admitted to Medanta.”
“Vinod is in the room on 5 litre intermittent oxygen. I am on 15 litre and breathless. It will take some time to recover. Need all good wishes, blessings and prayers of all,” she added.
Her last post was on May 22 where she hoped for miracles.
She wrote, “There are samples taken in the middle of the night. Sleep is disturbed for medicines, sponging, meals and what nots leaving one exhausted at times… Please continue with your prayers.”
On May 26, Vinod shared, “Chinna on ventilator, sedated and very precarious. I am on oxygen in isolation.”
On Mother’s Day, Mallika had shared a post stating, “My cute girl @chinnadua, please get well soon? The monkeys in the balcony are waiting for you. Plus I really miss throwing tantrums.”
Chinna worked as a radiologist until 2019. She was employed at Diwan Chand Aggarwal Imaging & Research Centre from 1992 to 2016.
