Sonnalli Seygall recently revealed that she had bagged a fantastic role only to give up, when she was asked to change her body with unnatural methods. Even though MeToo moment has helped make some good changes in the industry for actors, but there are still gatekeepers who plague the industry through different means.
Known for her role in Pyaar Ka Punchnama actor Sonnalli Seygall talked about how after scoring a role in an upcoming romance-action with her acting skills the actress still had to let go of the project. She told Mid-Day, “I gave a screen test for a well-known casting director for a fantastic role. I really wanted to bag this one, and did. But, on meeting the director, I was asked to make changes to my body, using methods that are unnatural. My heart broke, but I had to say no. I would never put my body under the knife, for anyone.”
Seygall is currently gearing up for the release of her next release titled ‘Setters’, alongside Aftab Shivdasani and Shreyas Talpade. She also revealed the changes she was asked to make. To look younger the makers asked her to get cheek fillers and take eye treatments. Unwilling to name the project or the director, she added, “He is only part of the larger problem the industry has with perception. A lot of us have grown up harbouring a notion of how a woman or man should look. Beauty and sex appeal is raw and natural. It’s sad that women are pressured into looking a certain way.”
