Rohit Shetty has fast created a niche for himself in the industry. Being a director who is equally capable of helming a comic caper or an action entertainer, Shetty has proved his mettle time and again at the box office. Recently talking to Bollywood Hungama, Rohit Shetty revealed the secret to becoming a great director and we have to admit, that after hearing him, Rohit despite his fame is a rather humble person. If that wasn’t all, in the interview Rohit also revealed how a, believe it or not, chaiwala convinced him to change the promo of the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Chennai Express.

Talking about his directorial skills, Shetty revealed that there are a few more necessities than just having your basics in directorial down. “Because you’re a director, your name comes, but when you’re making a film there are a lot of people involved in it. It’s not like you’re the captain of the ship so you take the credit but you can’t make a film alone. You need a team and if you have a very good film, for me it’s very important because I’m the only guy who makes a film in 4 and a half months start to release. So for me, team is very important and without team you can’t make a good film. You may be well equipped, well learned and even a great director but you need a great team to make a great film. So, the whole theory for making a comedy film or an emotional film is like we never work thinking the audience is going to laugh. If we are not enjoying it, the audience will not enjoy it. If the team is enjoying and laughing when the scene is happening or they are getting that high with that action when we’re shooting a film like Simmba or Singham and that’s why I give the credit to Rohit Shetty and Team.”

Later revealing how his office chaiwala helped him with the promo of the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Chennai Express, Rohit explained, “When I made a promo of Chennai Express, one of my office boy who serves tea, came and I showed him the promo and he said, ‘Sir, yeh aapka picture nahi lag raha hai’. So, we have that open door and we changed the promo overnight of Chennai Express and we made a new promo. So that’s why it works because ultimately we all are audience, I may be a director, I may be a producer, I may be a host but I’m an audience also. So, if I’m feeling it, the audience is also feeling it. If I’m not feeling it, I will be cheating myself if I think that they will laugh and cry but that’s not going to happen.”

Currently, on the film front, Rohit Shetty is directing Akshay Kumar in Sooryavanshi and is also producing a film that will be directed by Farah Khan.
