As if the atypical ‘Shamitabh’ wasn’t enough, now Amitabh Bachchan is talking of surprising his fans once again with his “unusual works” in ‘Piku’!
Revealing tantalising glimpses of what lies in store, he shared, “The shoot for the PR of ‘Piku’ has begun and there are some most unusual works being done. Today we were a part of it along with Deepika (Padukone) and Irrfan (Khan). Unfortunately, I am not permitted to expose them here, but may I just say that they all look rather unusual and hilarious.”
PIKU will see Bachchan play the role of Deepika’s father in this Shoojit Sircar directorial, which has been largely filmed in Kolkata.
Kolkata brings back memories of Calcutta, as it was called when Bachchan was shooting DO ANJAANE there in 1976. The veteran even posted a black and white photograph of him shooting for the song ‘Luk chup luk chup…’.
“This is Calcutta 1975 and the shooting of a delightful film DO ANJAANE,” he wrote. “DEEWAR had just released the previous day of travel to the city and the reception at Grand Hotel and the city was phenomenal…getting in and out of the Hotel was an army operation… It (the song) was shot at the famous Botanical Gardens across the river Hoogly.”
Ah, we are as big buffs of nostalgia as is the inimitable Mr. Bachchan!
