Mumbai: Jasudben ML School, Mumbai, conducted a donation drive for community service, raising Rs 2.24 lakh to support various causes, including animal welfare, assistance for the visually and hearing impaired, and contributions towards the upliftment of underprivileged children and women in rural areas.
As part of the drive, students engaged in various interactive activities, aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of community needs. Grade IV students donated Rs 20,000 to the National Association of the Blind (NAB) and visited their Worli centre, where they observed braille printing, audiobook recording, and interacted with visually impaired individuals.
Grade V students contributed Rs 30,000 to ‘Hands that Heal,’ an NGO dedicated to caring for abandoned street animals. They also had the opportunity to bond with rescued animals brought to the school as part of an awareness programme.
Grade VI students extended support to DEEDS NGO, which works for the hearing impaired, with a donation of Rs 20,000. During their session, they learned sign language and gained insights into the challenges faced by individuals with hearing impairments.
Additionally, the secondary section Art students organised the ‘Art Exhibition – Kalanidhi’ during Founder’s Week Souk, raising Rs.10,000. The proceeds from the exhibition will be used to fund a desktop computer for a BMC school in the next academic year.
Principal Damayanti Bhattacharya stated, "At Jasudben ML School, we aim to nurture socially responsible students who understand the importance of giving back. The donation drive reflects the efforts of students, teachers, and parents in contributing to the community. We seek to embed compassion as a core value in education to work towards an equitable future."
