The rains have delayed the match between India and New Zealand at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Hopefully, if the match starts, Indian skipper Virat Kohli will have a chance to register two records in the game with New Zealand.

Virat Kohli, who has been in great form for a few years, is often termed as the run-machine by the fans. He is regarded as one of the best batsman playing currently after Sachin Tendulkar. Although he is always touted to break Tendulkar’s records, here’s an opportunity for him to break one of Sachin’s grand records.

Sachin is the fastest to score fastest 11,000 runs (276 innings) in one-day internationals. If Kohli manages to score 57 or more runs in today’s match, he would become the quickest to score 11,000 runs in 222 ODI innings. He would become the third Indian batsman after Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly to be a part of 11,000 runs club.

Other than this, Virat Kohli has so far scored 687 runs in 19 innings with two centuries and two half-centuries in World Cup matches. In this World Cup he has registered 18 and 82 runs, thus making it a tally of 100 runs in total. If he scores 57 runs, he will surpass Yuvraj Singh to be the sixth highest scoring Indian batsman at World Cups.

The toss of the match has been delayed due to wet outfield. It is being hoped that the match would start and not get abandoned due to rain.
