A double century against England has brought many accolades for the West Indies skipper Jason Holder. Not only was he promoted to the top rank among all-rounders in Tests, he was also blessed with equalling a Don Bradman record. Jason, who scored 202 in the first Test against England, also equalled former legendary cricketer Don Bradman’s record of scoring a double century in the second innings of a Test while batting at no. 6 or lower.
In 1937, Don had hit a majestic 270 against England at MCG, while batting at no. 7. Holder’s achievement has also highlighted him among international cricket fans as his knock also helped West Indies to bag biggest-ever victory by margin of runs in Test cricket.
Having set a target of 628 for England, hosts West Indies dismissed the visitors at 246, thereby winning the match by 381 runs. Holder was named man of the match for his marvellous double century. Along with Holder, off-spinner Roston Chase also came into the limelight after taking career best figures of 8-60. The second Test of the three-match Test series between West Indies and England will start on January 31, 2019.
