Talking about his set of players in Indian team for upcoming World Cup 2019, Harbhajan Singh chose Umesh Yadav and Vijay Shankar while releasing Rishabh Pant. He also took Ravindra Jadeja as a probable player. Many of the others were same as that of the squad which played during New Zealand tour.
Here is Harbhajan’s 15-man squad for the 2019 ICC World Cup: Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Dinesh Karthik, Umesh Yadav and Vijay Shankar. Probable: Ravindra Jadeja
Harbhajan selected Vijay Shankar owing to his great performance in ODI and T20I series against New Zealand. He also selected Umesh Yadav, who was absent during India’s tour of New Zealand. Harbhajan selected Umesh due to his marvellous performance in Ranji Trophy 2018-19 tournament while playing for Vidarbha. He took 24 wickets in the four Ranji matches he played for the title winners Vidarbha.
Harbhajan kept Ravindra Jadeja as a probable player who could be included in the squad. Unlike many other cricketers, he left out Rishabh Pant from the team while keeping Dinesh Karthik as secondary wicketkeeper.
