It is not just the series of losing matches that is hampering RCB’s future in IPL 2019. Another problem is also hovering over the team’s progress in the tournament which can also force Virat Kohli to miss matches. Virat has been fined for slow-over rate during their match against Kings XI Punjab as his side was not able to complete their quota of overs in given time.
The skipper was fined a heavy amount of Rs. 12 lakh and as a result he is bound to be banned for a match in future if the mistake is repeated. As per the rules, a second offence on over-rate would lead to fine of Rs. 24 lakh for the captain and 25 per cent of the match fee or 6 lakh from every other player in the team, whichever is lesser. A third offence will cost the captain Rs. 30 lakh fine and a ban for one game in the next match. Also, each player would be fined Rs. 12 lakh or 50 per cent of match fee, whichever is lesser.
Other than Virat, Rajasthan Royals’ skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Mumbai Indians’ skipper Rohit Sharma have been also fined once for the same offence. The match against Kings XI Punjab was the only happy moment for the RCB but with the fine, it seems like even the lone victory has lost some sheen.
