As the uncertainty over whether or not India will boycott the World Cup clash against Pakistan is rising among all, Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden has revealed his opinion on the matter.
The Australian legend hopes that cricket prevails above all and there is full membership in the World Cup 2019. “Cricket is a beautiful game. It’s a game that elevates and levitates above significant issues. So for me, I really pray and hope that cricket prevails. It has lasted depressions, wars, and anarchy. I am sure both the governments (India and Pakistan) will have to make important decisions. But from an Australian point of view, I pray there is full membership”, he said at India Today Conclave 2019.
Talking about the format of the World Cup 2019 in which every team has to play each other once, Hayden said, “It’s back to the 1992 format, it’s going to be round-robin. It’s going to be an exciting format.”
After the Pulwama terror attack in which 40 Indian CRPF soldiers were killed, tensions between India and Pakistan started rising. India also conducted air strikes inside Pak soil to target bases of terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad. In the wake of attack, many cricketers and cricket fans urged to boycott the India-Pakistan clash during World Cup 2019.
