With Team India gearing up for its first match of the 12th season of ICC Cricket World Cup against South Africa, fans are reminded of the last time they saw the Men in Blue play at The Rose Bowl, Southampton.

India last played a Test match against England at the Rose Bowl from August 30 to September 3, 2018, where they lost by 60 runs. Despite taking a first innings lead courtesy a hundred from Cheteshwar Pujara. Moeen Ali proved India’s nemesis in this game with nine wickets.

For the June 5 game against South Africa, the grass covered pitch is expected to be a little troublesome for the batsmen whilst acting as fast bowlers’ paradise, which was evident in the warm-up match between England and Australia where the total couldn’t cross 300. One can also expect quite a few wickets though the weather is expected to be mostly sunny, and there are no signs of rain. The wind speed is expected to be slightly slower than the average experienced in this region which means swing bowlers might have to watch out.

What to expect from Team India

One can hold high hopes from Jasprit Bumrah who has previously performed well at the Rose Bowl and is the number 1 bowler in the ICC’s ODI ranking. Meanwhile, KL Rahul and MS Dhoni rattled everybody with a brilliant performance against Bangladesh in the last warm-up match, with both scoring centuries.
