Mumbai : State-run transmission utility Power Grid Corporation said it is planning to enter the distribution network segment as a part of its expansion plan and is already in talks with Odisha in this regard. “After establishing ourself in the transmission segment, we now want to utilise our expertise in laying network in the distribution segment,” Chairman and Managing director R N Nayak said.

He, however, said the firm does not plan to enter the power supply business. To begin with, Nayak said the company is in talks with Odisha to lay distribution network in the state. “We are still awaiting their approval.”

The company has already prepared a detailed project report for the investments required, he added. The company is also planning to set up a separate company to handle its overseas business.

The company, which reported Rs 24 crore from its overseas operations, is eyeing Rs 90 crore revenue this fiscal. The company reported a healthy 59 % jump in the net profit at Rs 1,126 crore in the September quarter.
