Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan recently expressed his desire to play all kinds of characters. He also wished to do a film like Leon: The Professional. The 57-year-old actor had taken a long break from Bollywood after some not-so-favourable performances at the box office. He now has three big movies lined up for release – Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki.
Shah Rukh feels he is Batman at night, Superman in the morning and Spider-Man in the afternoon. As he is gearing up for the release of Pathaan, he said that 2022 has been 'interesting'.
He told on Scoop With Raya, "I want to do everything. I want to do good guys, bad guys, mean guys, happy guys, loving guys, fighting guys. This year has been very interesting because I have done Pathaan, which is the action film I came here to do 32 years ago. So, hopefully, at 57 I still look like I’ll carry it off. I have done a film, which I always wanted to try the South Indian genre. It’s a different set of doing. It’s called Jawan. And then I always wanted to work with Rajkumar Hirani. You know we have been trying to work since 3 Idiots and Munna Bhai MBBS."
'Want to do a film like Leon: The Professional'
Shah Rukh added, "After this, I want to do a film like Leon: The Professional. Not Leon but a film like where I am older, quiet guy, very intense with a grey beard and grey hair. I don’t know. I am very playful about it. I don’t take the characters and roles that I do. I just want to tell a story, somebody has the desire to tell. And I want to tell it to the best of my capabilities. So, if a director has a story and says this is what we love, I will say, I also love it. Now let me try and make it the best that I can for you. So, I enjoy it."
"I am Batman at night, Superman in the morning and Spider-Man in the afternoon. So, I just want to play all kinds of characters," he said.
Pathaan controversy
Pathaan marks Shah Rukh Khan's return to the silver screen in a full-fledged role after five long years. The film is a high octane spy-actioner in which all the three stars will be seen packing some intense punches. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film is all set to release on January 25, 2023.
The first song from Pathaan, titled Besharam Rang, courted controversy as soon as it was dropped online. It all started after Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra called Deepika Padukone's outfit in the song "objectionable" and warned the makers to "correct them" or they will be forced to mull whether to stall the film's release. He also objected to the saffron and green bikinis which Deepika wore in 'Besharam Rang'.
#BoycottPathaan began trending on Twitter as many raised concerns over the 'vulgar visuals' and displeasure over the saffron bikini that the actress is seen donning.
