BHOPAL : A 25-year-old junior engineer of Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board (MPESB) was beaten to death by two youths over inflated electricity bill at Chandbad office of MPSEB under Bazaria police station in the afternoon on Wednesday. Both have been arrested on charge of murder.
Earlier, another employees of the electricity board, clerk Meera Ahuja was stabbed to death and an amount of Rs two lakh looted by miscreants from the cash counter of MPSEB office at Koh-e-Fiza on December 2, 2012.
ASP Rajesh Chandel said that there was discrepancy in the electricity bill of Nihal Vishwakarma, 18, resident of Khushipura, and his uncle Santosh Vishwakarma accompanied him to the MPSEB office in Chandbad where they hassled with JE Kamlakar Warathe.
The accused created a ruckus over the electricity bill issue outside the office after which Kamlakar called the accused inside the office to discuss the issue to which the accused agreed. They went inside and while they were talking over the issue accused turned violent and started assaulting Kamlakar.
During the assault Kamlakar complained of pain and started vomiting. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. The matter escalated after the accused abused MPSEB employees and called them lazy after which he was offered to discuss the issue by Kamlakar which cost him his life. After the preliminary investigation the body was sent for the post mortem. The police have registered a case under section 302 of the IPC and started further investigation.
The Congress as well as MP Madhya Khetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Ltd has condemned the incident.
PCC spokesman JP Dhanopia said, “It is failure of state government as anti-social elements thrashed a junior engineer to death in the state capital. It shows that anti-social elements are enjoying patronage.”
Company employees condoled the death of Warathe by observing two minutes silence. ACS Iqbal Singh Bains, PS (energy), ICP Kesri, MD (power management), Sanjay Shukla, MD (MPKVV) Vivek Porwal condemned the incident. The officials asked the employees to have patience and manage the things in proper way.
