BHOPAL : A rashly driven bus, coming from Piparia to the city, hit two bike-borne youths from behind in a bid to overtake them near the under construction ROB and under-bridge on Hoshangabad Road within the limits of Bag Sewania police station on Monday afternoon. The pillion rider fell besides the road while the man driving the bike fell on the road and came under the wheels of the bus. He died on the way before reaching to the hospital. The Bag Sewania police reached the spot and seized the bus after registering a case.
TI, Bagsewania police station, Lalit Singh Dangur said that the deceased has been identified as Hemraj Chauhan, 31, son of Harish Singh Chauhan, resident of 449-Amrai Parisar, Bag Sewania. On Monday afternoon around 1.15pm Hemraj was going towards ISBT with his friend on his bike bearing registration number MP04 MP 8705. When he reached near the police outpost near the Habibganj Naka a speeding bus plying between Piparia and Bhopal, bearing registration number MP04 PA 7786, came from behind and in a bid to overtake the bike hit it. The pillion rider fell on the roadside while Chauhan fell on the road and was run over by the bus.
Nearby locals rushed for help and stopped the bus. Chauhan was rushed to JP Hospital by an ambulance where the doctors declared him brought dead. The driver fled from the spot after the incident.
TI Dangur said that brother of the deceased informed the police that it was not clear who was riding pillion along with Hemraj as he left the spot after the incident.
The deceased was a salesman in ITC and hailed from Gogalbada, Bakhtara. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
Police following the accident registered a case against the errant driver on the charge of rash driving under section 304 A and launched a manhunt to nab him.
